LISTEN ON SPOTIFY.
The year was 1999 and everyone was freaking out due to the Y2K scare. Cities were in chaos, cows were tipped all over the countryside, and chili dogs were in danger of not having any mustard. Just when all seemed lost 3 heroes arose from the madness in the suburbs of Detroit. The PROUD HOUSE OF SHMUCKS was born. Enough was enough they thought and single-handedly stopped Y2k from happening by playing their music.
Years passed. Bands like Green Day and Blink 182 hi-jacked punk and kinda ruined the scene. It just wasn't the same so PHS drifted apart.
Fast forward to the present. Oh, a gift? For me? Who are you talking to? What? Oh shit, I'm talking to myself again.
So back to PHS. We play punk rock. I'm sure we fit into one of the subcategories but honestly, we like most of it so our songs reflect that. We have some Oi-style songs, we have some skatepunk super fast songs. We have some songs that are reminiscent of the early Dead Kennedys. Some might say we have (ahem, gross) "pop-punk" songs but I prefer the nomenclature: "brat punk" but I digress.
The band is a sum of its parts. The Brothers Shmuck, Doug, and Chris McGrath on guitar/vocals and drums, respectively. Our bass player has not returned our calls in about 15 years. I'm not entirely sure but I think he quit. The jury is still out on that. So one of my many personalities has been filling in for the recording.
Speaking of recording. We are currently in the studio recording our first full-length LP. It will be filled with stories of love, laughter, and violence. But mostly drunken nonsense. Be on the look out!!
Hugs and Kisses,
Proud House of Shmucks
